Features:

  • Birko Sour is a powdered acidic laundry sour intended for use in the next to last rinse of a laundry cycle to neutralize residual alkalinity, and minimize mineral discoloration of laundry.
  • A laundry sour is an acid rinse step toward the end of the laundry cycle to neutralize any residual alkalinity left in the fabric and remove any metal stains that remain in the clothes.
  • Omitting the sour may result in residual alkalinity in the fabric, which can cause skin irritation to the wearer. Additionally, over time if a sour step is omitted, the laundry will turn grey due to mineral build-up.
  • The sour step is usually run at a high-water level, and followed by a final water rinse.
  • Ideally, the final pH of the fabric should be in the range 6.5-7.0, however, anything between 5.5 and 8.5 is acceptable.
  • Birko Sour may be used as an acid floor powder for deep cleaning/acid etching of concrete floors in hot-boxes, carcass coolers and similar applications.
